Advanced User Security Mapping simplifies Stellent security administration by mapping security between LDAP or Active Directory and Stellent
Minneapolis, MN — May 16, 2007 — Fishbowl Solutions Inc., a leading technology consulting and software development firm supplying solutions to the Stellent market, announced the release of Advanced User Security Mapping for Stellent version 4.0. Advanced User Security Mapping saves administrators time deploying and administering Stellent Universal Content Management (UCM) security. It creates a more powerful security structure and also helps support companies’ compliance requirements.
Companies using Stellent UCM want to leverage their LDAP directory or Active Directory information within Stellent. The basic Stellent integration allows companies to map their LDAP and Active Directory Groups to Stellent Accounts and Roles but it stops there. In order to build a security model that truly supports companies’ needs to deliver and protect content in a very granular and powerful way, including denying content to certain Accounts and/or Roles, companies need to map Organizational Unit and User Attributes from LDAP and Active Directory in addition to Group Membership. Advanced User Security Mapping delivers this functionality. It also maps Stellent Aliases, further simplifying administration versus waiting for users to log in to the system and then manually adding them to the proper Aliases.
Advanced User Security Mapping simplifies administration through building “Rules” to define conditions to identify users in Stellent (based on LDAP or Active Directory Group Membership, Organizational Unit or Attributes). It then defines whether this group of users should be granted or denied access to a specific Account, Role or Alias. For example, an administrator could define a condition like “Contractor” and deny this group of users access to restricted company content through a few simple steps.
To support companies’ compliance needs, Advanced User Security Mapping allows administrators to enter an Account or Role and produce a list of users with access to that security group, ensuring only the users that should have access do.
According to Terry Leach, Contractor to a large government agency, “When we used the basic integration on our network of about 15,000 users, we had around 65,000 LDAP groups. By mapping user attributes from LDAP to Stellent, we were able to get our Stellent Security Groups to about 12! Besides a much simpler Account structure, our network performance has improved dramatically.”
