Fishbowl is Beating the Recession |
Season’s Greetings and welcome to the final edition of The Aquarium for 2009! We have enjoyed sharing “everything Oracle UCM” with you during the past 12 months.
Speaking of the past 12 months, we are proud to say that 2009 has been very busy for the team here at Fishbowl! Our founder and fearless leader, Tim Gruidl, was recently featured in the Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal on how Fishbowl is Beating the Recession. We would like to extend a big "thanks" to our wonderful customers and dedicated employees who have enabled us to thrive during these challenging times.
We would also like to congratulate Jerry Aber of MoneyGram International who was elected "Content Management Architect of the Year" by Oracle Magazine. Jerry and Fishbowl have teamed up during the past year to deliver Oracle UCM solutions at MoneyGram. Read the November/December issue of Oracle Magazine and find Jerry’s feature on page 42.

Oracle UCM Named Leader in ECM by Gartner |
Gartner reports that up to 80 percent of enterprise information is unstrucutred content such as documents, graphics, forms, XML components, videos,
e-mail messages, and more. Enterprises are looking to Enterprise Content Managament (ECM) as a strategy to deal with and leverage their conent.
Oracle has had a precense in the ECM market since aquiring Stellent in 2007. Oracle's Universal Content Management (UCM), formerlly Stellet, was recently named a leader in the ECM market by Gartner.
Gartner believes “Oracle Universal Content Management (UCM) is a mature, well-integrated product suite that provides "productized" integrations with Oracle applications. With Oracle Fusion Middleware, it has integration with
a broad set of complementary technologies, such as BPM, BI, portals and enterprise search. The size and capabilities of Oracle's sales force, product development and support organizations give it
significant opportunities to grow its content management business and increase its market share.”
Fishbowl has worked with a variety of customers to implement Oracle UCM and integrate it with other enterprise solutions. Fishbowl has also developed a set of software solutions as add-ons to UCM that help companies leverage UCM to do even more.
Keep Web Content Up-to-Date, Automatically |
If buyers can not find your company on-line, how will you win their business? According to Razorfish, "61 percent of people rely on product information or research before a buying decision is made." It has never been more critical to have a presence online with the most
up-to-date information available to potential buyers.
Here at Fishbowl Solutions, we were faced with that very challenge. Our Search Engine Optimization (SEO) initiative was successful in yielding a 50-percent increase in our First Page rankings for our targeted keywords.
In order to maintain these results, however, we needed a proactive process to update content regularly in order to maintain and improve relevancy. The search engines are less likely to spider pages that are old and stagnant.
Learn how we are leveraging Oracle UCM and our own Subscription Notifier Component to deliver proactive notifications, allowing our marketing team to keep web content up-to-date and maintain top search engine rankings.

Payment and Financial Services Co. Integrates Oracle
UCM with Web Center Portal to Deliver a Rich Intranet and Save Money |
A global provider of payment and financial services had an urgent need to improve company
communications for its 2,300 employees spread throughout 170 countries. The
company, dedicated to teamwork and providing a challenging environment for employees, was
eager to create a central place where employees could go to access everything about the
company and keep them engaged and excited about their place of work.
The new Director of Corporate Communications knew that the days of a one-way feeding of
information to people were a thing of the past. She believed the company could better engage
employees by providing them access to new, electronic communication vehicles, like instant
messaging, social networking, real-time feeds (such as weather, information about competition,
etc.) to deliver interactive, up-to-the-minute information. Working with the Information Technologies (IT) team, she decided the intranet was the
appropriate vehicle.
Learn how Fishbowl Solutions helped the company integrate Oracle UCM with portal technology to deliver a rich intranet in less than six weeks and save 25 percent on administration costs per year.
