Fishbowl Solutions Announces GSA Portal Search Suite Version 2.0
Latest version supports Oracle WebCenter Portal 12c and includes enhancements that further increase the flexibility and control of exposing Google search features directly within portal pages
Fishbowl Solutions, Inc., a Google for Work Premier Partner and Oracle WebCenter Specialized Partner, has announced the release of the GSA Portal Search Suite Version 2.0. The newest version provides support for Oracle WebCenter Portal 12c and includes numerous enhancements that further enable users to configure portlets to expose Google Search features and search results directly within the portal.
Version 2.0 builds upon the configuration flexibility already provided by the GSA Portal Search Suite to serve up secure search results from the Google Search Appliance (GSA) to Oracle WebCenter and Liferay portals. This configuration flexibility is made possible by a collection of JSR-286 portlets that provide a search box and search results layout directly within the portal. Fishbowl’s GSA Portal Search Suite Version 2.0 includes enhancements to these portlets and improvements to the overall search experience to help users further maintain control over the portal’s look and feel. Additional features of the new version include:
- New Faceted Search Portlet allows search results to be refined using static metadata criteria
- Images can be defined to indicate the source of a search result item
- Searches returning zero results and a spelling suggestion automatically execute a new search using the suggested spelling
- Document Preview interface is enhanced for improved user experience and tighter integration with the portal including configurable preview sizing
- Search results can be configured to open in the current window, a new window/tab, or a popup dialog using URL patterns
The GSA is an on premise solution that provides industry leading search technology. First released in 2002, it has been providing the power and reach of Google Search to corporate information both inside and outside the firewall. On February 4, 2016, Google announced that they will be transitioning away from a hardware-based search appliance to a new cloud-based search product over the next three years. Fishbowl remains committed to existing GSA customers and will fully support their products and connectors through the GSA’s end-of-support in March 2019, while also working closely with Google to support their cloud search capabilities.
